The Baby Sleep Solution

Sleep is very important for your baby …. but it’s also highly important for you and the rest of your family.
Lack of sleep can lead to you suffering from losses in concentration, lower productivity in your work or business, older children can see their schoolwork deteriorate. It can also be hazardous when driving and make you more prone to illness. In extreme cases, lack of sleep has led to jobs being lost and even loving relationships being irreparably damaged …… all because of a crying baby.
This is the potential cost of doing nothing …….. and yet in the next thirty five minutes the problem can be completely resolved and I personally guarantee that you can look forward to a good night’s sleep.

You are not alone with your baby’s sleep problems. Many parents feel desperate to solve their baby’s sleep issues but often feel helpless and isolated without any idea of what to do about it.
It’s important to understand that you are not alone with this difficulty and there is a solution!
I know what it’s like… I have a friend whose youngest son hardly slept at all until he was over two years old. It even reached the stage where he and his wife were taking it in turns to sleep in a local hotel so that one of them could be assured of a good night’s sleep for three days out of every six!
A parent wrote to me to explain that her son was waking every hour through the night. The baby would just wake up and then cry until nursed back to sleep. An hour later he would wake and cry again. She had tried everything she could think of to solve the problem but was feeling exhausted, depressed and desperate.
Yet another said that his daughter would just not go to sleep but would cry and cry for anything up to three hours at a time.
But it doesn’t have to be like this! There is an easy way to solve your baby sleep problems….

Flying with an infant, the mother of a new experience

Travel a long distance flight with a baby would have rank among the most stressful activities of life. However with modern families often scattered all over the world visit the grandmother can often mean the necessary evil of a plane with his demanding joy package.

It will not be easy - but there really is much that can be done to prepare for what may seem like a particularly difficult task

The first thing is first; Do not assume anything. Make sure that you have a passport account for your baby and that the airline know are traveling with you. Some companies that infants travel for free, while others charge 10% on a ticket of adults to children under the age of 2 years of age.

If travel longer distances, consider the premium economy or class of business if possible. Not having to queue and have more leg room or a flat surface would seem expendable luxuries, but extra cost will be worth every penny if it makes your life easier with a baby.

Check with the airline to see if you can give a seat of closing and ask for a cot. The cradle cannot provide is automatically especially if there are other families flying. It is best to do this when booking their tickets rather than the arrival to save any confusion last time or delay.

If your baby is fed with formula, have as much milk as you think that your baby will need and then double it. Today's hypersensitive security means could be asked to drink at random from cartons or bottles which could mean you have to throw some supplies before boarding, or even during traffic safety controls. You can not be sure that there will be delays in flight and a hungry baby

Light travel is a mantra for each passenger with experience but that will double when traveling with a baby. You will have already automatically batches of essentials to take thus forget the heavy books, flying pillows and bags of candy. Take baby paracetamol and a thermometer in case, but ignore who tells him her baby with 'natural herbs' of drugs to make them docile on the plane.

It doesn't feel guilty or apology towards other passengers if your baby is crying or anxiety during a flight. It is an inevitable fact that babies cry and is obviously not left the aircraft so there is no point in wear and tear on it. You could just pleasantly surprised by the kindness of strangers and staff of the airline especially if you travel alone!

Babies are not immune to jet lag and hydration in a flight. Try to ensure that enough for drinking by maintaining a manufactured water bottle with you and offers as many times as they occur. Sucking a mannequin during take off and landing can help to equalize shortly eardrums and help them to 'pop'. Finally, note that normally you will be asked your baby in his return with a seat belt every time that the seat belt sign is switched on during the turbulence. (even if it means waking them up!)

Good luck, be prepared and we must not expect miracles, but you never know, aircraft provide an excellent source of white noise and movement by what could only sleep through everything!

Meditation and Stillness for Busy People

By Colette Baron-Reid on March 21, 2011

When is the last time you took time to really be still, perhaps through meditation or conscious breathing?

With so much going on in our lives, it’s beyond tough to find time to be still and connect to the All That Is. Between hectic work schedules and endless to-do lists, many of us barely have a chance to come up for air. Sure, you want to make time to be still and meditate, but it just gets lost in the shuffle and before you know it, it’s bedtime and you’re too exhausted. We’ve all had this experience of resolving to find the time to meditate, but then it just keeps moving down the priority list. So, take a deep breath and keep reading. Today I’m going to help you get on the road to more stillness without missing out on your to-dos.

Stillness is one of the most powerful keys to tap into your intuition and experience more calm and happiness. By moving beyond your busy ego mind and finding that peaceful place within your consciousness, you connect with the All That Is. As I talk about extensively in Remembering the Future, stillness is where you hear your intuition, which is always waiting to share messages and wisdom. Without taking time each day for stillness, our minds become chatterboxes and we lose ourselves in our busy lives. It’s then far more difficult to distinguish the difference between intuition and wishful thinking.

While there are many ways to experience more stillness, I’ve found that meditation is one of the most effective. With meditation, you experience a clear conscious connection with the Divine and your intuition. Beyond these important connections, meditation has also been shown to help people experience more happiness and better health. If you say you have no time to meditation, remember this: meditation actually gives you more time by helping your mind get calmer and more focused and inspired. When you begin your day with a clear connection to the Divine, your hectic schedule and life’s little hiccups are far more manageable.

I know meditating can be difficult. When I first meditated, I felt uncomfortable and awkward. However, once I found the forms of meditation that worked best for me, I noticed an immediate stillness and calm. I also noticed that meditation helped me better access my intuition and use my gift to help others. The more I practiced, the better I became at cultivating stillness, even in the midst of stressful and busy days. My mind also became far less chaotic. And I’ve always had a busy mind that just loves to think and analyze. So, if I’m able to practice meditation, I promise you can too!

Exercise:

So, how do you go about starting to meditate? First, make a commitment to yourself to meditate for at least 15 minutes each day over the next month. (Or, commit to a week if a month seems too overwhelming. I want to encourage you to just make a commitment to start somewhere.) If you need to, schedule it in your day. I recommend meditating either when you first wake up or sometime between 2-4pm since the mid afternoon is when our minds tend to start to chatter the most. I also like to meditate before bedtime releasing the internal noise from the day.

The Naked Truth about The Naked Mom: Exclusive with Brooke Burke

Are you really naked on the cover of your book?

In my mind, yes... But actually, very few "nude" photo shoots really are shot naked. Aaaah, the power of Photoshop! Thank God for flesh colored g-string panties!

Why did you name your book The Naked Mom?

This book is filled with parts of me that no one has ever seen. I reveal so many intimate details of my life as a woman, a mother and a lover. I feel more naked today in my commitment to honesty than I did back in the day.

Tell us your five favorite things to do naked:

1. Take a hot steam shower
2. Stand in my dressing room choosing which gown to wear for DWTS
3. Slip into my favorite pair of cozy sweats
4. Have a family car wash shower (yes, I mean all four kids!!!)
5. Curl up in David's arms.

What makes you feel exposed?

Blogging, tweeting, and going on my book tour.

Were you more confident being naked at 25 or almost 40?

I am much more confident now. I'm more comfortable in my skin and focused on much deeper beautiful issues.

What part of your body are you most proud of?

My tummy. It was a home for all of my children, and I worked hard to get it back. Thanks TAUTS! It's also my center, my intuition and the place I make most most of my decisions from.

What part of your body do you wish you could change?

None, but if you're passing out perfect parts, I'll take long legs.

What are you going to tell your daughters about your naked past when they ask?

Naked past? That sounds so scandalous! It was an honor to grace Playboy's cover two times. Posing nude was a freeing experience for me at that time, and I do not have one regret. My children will not judge me.

Our top five mummy memories this Mother’s Day

Thank you for all sharing your wonderful and moving mummy and mummy-to-be memories!

Capturing those precious moments with mum are a special way to say I love you this Mother’s Day.

We have loved reading all your personal tales about what your mum/being a mum means to you.

Here are our top 5:

Mrshuggie said her “Mummy Moment” was giving birth to her own child, with her mum holding her hand. Her partner of eight years had left her when she was just five weeks pregnant and that had intensified the life-long bond between mum, daughter and granddaughter.

Beautybaby19 also spoke of her mum “being there” when her baby was born 12 weeks early by C-section because she was suffering severe pre-eclampsia. It seems in times of anguish, mum really is everyone’s best friend.

Ally 1917’s most special mummy memory was being a mum of two daughters and finally giving her fiancĂ© the son they had always longed for.

Groovychick999’s defining mummy moment was giving birth to her daughter who has Down’s Syndrome and was born nine days early in a car park, but she is a “little fighter” and a joy to behold.

But happier memories sprung to mind for fuji15 who said: “My favourite Mummy Memory is dancing with my Mum to Abba. I was about four or five.

“We would dance in front of each other. I would try to repeat her moves and she would praise me and call me a 'dancing queen'.

“I have two boys myself now. Having this lovely memory of my Mum I love dancing with my boys. We all are so happy in these moments and it makes me think I am a good Mum, just like my Mum.

And the winner of the luxury spa break is...
